Preparing students for a unit test, post-test, benchmark assessment, or end-of-year assessment starts with understanding which standards need the most attention. Use your available reports and resources to identify learning gaps, then target instruction where it will have the greatest impact.
1. Identify Priority Standards
Review your available reports to determine which standards students have mastered and which need additional support. Let the data guide your instructional planning so you can focus your time where it will make the biggest difference.
2. Gather Your Resources
Use the following tools to plan targeted review and instruction:
Assessment Reports – Identify the standards where students need the most support.
Blueprints – Review which standards will be assessed and where they are taught throughout the year.
Curriculum Mapper – Locate the Exploros learning experiences that teach and reinforce each standard.
3. Review Student Understanding
Use Exploros assessments to check for understanding before your larger assessment.
Assign Unit Tests to identify remaining learning gaps.
Review results to determine which standards need additional instruction or practice.
For Grade 8 Social Studies: Each unit includes a Unit Vocabulary & Review learning experience featuring:
Unit vocabulary review
Review of key people and events
Practice with the unit's essential concepts
A practice quiz to help students prepare for the unit assessment
4. Target Instruction
Use the Curriculum Mapper or standards tags to locate learning experiences that address the standards students need most.
You can:
Reassign learning experiences for whole-class review.
Assign targeted learning experiences to individual students or small groups based on assessment data.
Focus instruction on the standards with the greatest opportunity for growth.
