Once Exploros is activated for your district's instance of Canvas, teachers can import and sync classes.

In Exploros, everything is organized by the classes you create, so to see learning experiences in your app, you must create at least one class. If you use Canvas, and your district authorizes Exploros within Canvas, you can import a Class and all the students in it with a single click! Furthermore, all students will automatically get Exploros accounts and be able to access them via Canvas.

Here is an alternate video link if your district blocks Vimeo.

Here's how you import a Canvas Class

1. Log into Canvas. If Exploros is an authorized app for your district, it will appear in your courses. (If not, and administrator from your district needs to set up your subscription — see this article.)

2. Click the link "Exploros App"

3. If you already have an Exploros account, authorize Exploros and proceed to Step 4. If you do not have an Exploros account you will be directed to sign up as a Teacher. Choose a Bundle, enter your school zip code, select your campus from the list, and sign up.

4. Once in Exploros, open the side menu by clicking on the 3 bars

5. Click on the black + button to create a new class

6. If you have entered Exploros via a teacher account via Canvas, and you have Canvas Classes, you will see the "Import From Canvas" button. Click it and choose a class to import.

Note: If you are using Canvas Sections, choose the section to import, and not the Course.

7. Follow the prompts to add a grade and subject. If you are subscribed to a program like WordlyWise i3000, Social Studies Bundle or another curriculum program, add a license (If you do not, you will not be able to see or assign lessons, depending upon the program).

All students in the Canvas class will be added to the Exploros class, and if they do not have Exploros accounts, accounts will be created for them. You can see the list of students in the class by viewing the roster in Exploros (see image below). Students can log in via Canvas.

NOTE: Until a student has at least one Exploros assignment, there is nothing a student can do in Exploros. If a student attempts to launch Exploros from within Canvas before he or she has an assignment, the student will see a message to this effect — wait for your teacher to assign something before entering Exploros.

Updating (Syncing) a Canvas Class

If your Canvas Class roster changes, you can sync the change with Exploros.

1. Navigate to the Exploros class roster that was initially created using the Canvas Class Import.

2. Once in the Roster, click Sync with Canvas

NOTE: This process will make your Exploros class match it's Canvas Class counterpart. In the process, students may be both added and removed from your Exploros class, depending upon the Canvas Class Roster.

TROUBLESHOOTING:

Canvas Class import button is not present

This will be the case if you did not launch Exploros from within Canvas. Make sure to log into Canvas first, and click the Exploros App link from within Canvas.
