Giving Students More Time and Allowing Retakes

Learn how to extend an active experience, reactivate an ended experience, and allow retakes for unit tests and experience-level quizzes.

Written by Sabrina Valverde

If students need additional time to complete an assigned experience, quiz, or unit test, you have several options depending on whether the experience is still active or has already ended.

Extend an Active Experience

If the experience has not ended, you can extend its end date and time:

  1. Open the assigned experience.

  2. Select the calendar in the upper-right corner.

  3. Change the end date or time to give students more time.

  4. Save your changes.

Students can continue working in the experience until the new end time.

Reactivate an Ended Experience

If the experience has already ended, you can reopen it:

  1. Go to Experiences.

  2. Find the experience under Ended.

  3. Select Reactivate.

  4. Choose a new end date and time.

Students will then be able to return to the experience and continue working.

Allow a Quiz or Unit Test Retake

Important: The retake option is available for unit tests and experience-level quizzes. It is not available for Pre- and Post-Tests.

To allow a student to retake a quiz or unit test:

  1. Open the assigned experience.

  2. Navigate to the quiz or unit test.

  3. Open the drop-down menu.

  4. Select Show Retake.

  5. Choose the student or students who should be allowed to retake the assessment.

This allows you to provide another attempt only to the students who need one.

Tip: If students only need more time and have not submitted the assessment, extend or reactivate the experience. Use the retake option when students have already submitted an attempt and need an additional opportunity.
