District Pre-Post Test Scores Report

Learn how to access, interpret, and export the District Pre-Post Scores Report.

Written by Sabrina Valverde

The District Pre-Post Scores Report shows a teacher-by-teacher summary of student Pre- and Post-Test scores, and allows for the export of a single file containing each student's Pre- and Post-Test scores for end-of-year growth analysis.

This video provides an overview of the report and the single-file data export.

Accessing the Report

You can access this report through your district admin console:

  1. Log in to Exploros and open your Admin Console.

  2. Navigate to Reports.

  3. Select the District Pre-Post Scores Report from the list of summary reports.

Understanding the Metrics

The report provides a summary of unique students who have completed both a pre-test and a post-test in the same course.

The top row summarizes some key metrics:

  • Complete Matched Sets: The count of unique students who have taken both assessments for the same course.

    • Note: This number may be lower than the total number of students who have tested because most likely there will be cases where some students pre-tested and did not post-test, and vice versa.

  • Average Pre-Test Score: The average pre-test performance.

  • Average Post-Test Score: The average post-test performance

  • Average Points Growth: The calculated difference between pre- and post-test scores (Post-test - Pre-test score).

Detailed breakdowns by campus and teacher-course are available in the table below the summary, which you can access by clicking on each campus to open it up.

IMPORTANT: Data Analysis Considerations

When reviewing your data, keep the following logic in mind:

  • Duplicate Tests: If a student has taken the same test (pre or post) multiple times for a single course, the report will only use the data from the last test attempt.

  • Class Mapping: If a student pre-tested in one class for a given course but post-tested in a different one, the student's data is attributed to the post-test class.

  • Teacher attribution: Exploros lists the student's results under the post-testing primary teacher. It is important to look at this information because Exploros does not always receive the primary teacher from an integrating LMS or rostering system. If a system (e.g. Classlink) does not send the primary teacher, Exploros uses the first teacher listed. Please double-check that this information looks correct for what is actually occurring in your district.

  • Identifiers: Depending on your district's configuration, student identifiers may appear as names, email addresses, and/or LMS IDs.

Exporting for Further Analysis

While the in-platform view provides a quick snapshot, you can export the full dataset for deeper analysis:

  1. Click the Export to CSV button in the report.

  2. The downloaded file contains a row for every unique student-course pair, including school year, district, campus, and teacher information.

Note: You can copy this exported data and paste it into the Exploros Pre-Post template to automatically generate advanced summary calculations and instructional visualizations.
