Text Tools in Articles & Article Summaries

Learn how to use the text tools available in Articles and Article Summaries, including translation, text-to-speech, language and voice options, text size, word definitions, and exporting to PDF.

When you open an Article or Article Summary, you can access helpful text tools by clicking the gear icon on the top right. These tools are designed to support student access, readability, and understanding.

Below is a quick guide to each tool, listed in the order they appear:

1. Translation
Translate the article into another language to support multilingual learners.

2. Text-to-Speech (TTS)
Have the text read aloud to students in a variety of languages. This can support comprehension and accessibility.

3. Language (TTS)
Choose the language used for text-to-speech playback.

4. Voice
Select the voice used for text-to-speech (varies by device and browser).

5. Text Size
Adjust the size of the text to make reading more comfortable.

6. Word Tools – Define
Highlight words and click “Define” to see definitions, helping build vocabulary and support understanding as students read.

7. Export to PDF
Download the article as a PDF for printing or offline use.
